However, in most cases, I see that they are unsatisfied with life. They yearn for something more.

Like a purpose.

But how do you awake to you’re life’s purpose? It’s really not as easy as it sounds. But I recommend taking two steps back and finding some time alone to reflect.

Ideally, your life purpose aligns with 3 main areas:

You’re skills

You’re core values

What you like doing

Maybe you went to school for architecture and you know buildings inside and out – This would be your skills. And say you care about the environment – well then that is your core value.

For the third area, I usually ask the question: If money wasn’t an issue, what would you focus your time on? Where would you spend your day? If you said drawing then well the answer would be clear: You focus on designing buildings that are green and eco-friendly.

Sometimes, the answer is not as crystal clear. I know for me it wasn’t. In this case, I would recommend that you still take a step back from the daily grid. Maybe go for a hike in the mountains, or grab an espresso latte in a cafe and brainstorm.

Just keep writing ideas to yourself til you find something that resonates with you. Then try it. If possible, don’t quit your current role quite yet – try it on the weekends or after work. You can always pivot if you find out that it is not what you want to do.

The goal here should be to not idle in complacency but instead continuously move towards a more fulfilling life. Take steps each day to do some self discovery and answer those questions above. I believe it’s the most important thing you should be doing.

Many of the people we know go about their life with no purpose or goals.
